A suspected terrorist was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Burma Stand in Siddhirganj upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Delu alias Master Delu, a top terrorist of the area.
Officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station M Sharafatullah said Delu and his cohorts were taking preparation to commit a robbery at Barma Stand at night.
Being tipped off, a team of Rab conducted a drive there.
However, sensing presence of the elite force members, Delu and his associates opened fire tat the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered the gunfight around 3:30am.
At one stage, Delu sustained bullet injuries.
Later, he was whisked off to a private clinic where the doctors declared him dead.
Delu was wanted in 11 cases filed with several police stations including for robbery, drug peddling and arms smuggling.
